Sometimes I'm up, sometimes I'm down, sometimes I'm happy and then I get mad.
Sounds familiar?
Well then you, or your girlfriends should be experiencing a PMS routine.
What's a PMS? Some may say:
1. Psychotic Mood Shift
2. Puffy Mid-Section
3. Perpetual Munching Spree
4. Pretty Much Stubborn
5. Pardon My Sobbing
6. Pimples May Surface
7. Pissy Mood Syndrome
8. Plainly; Men Suck
9. Punish Men Severely
and the worst of all...
10. Potential Murder Suspect!
Haha, I find some of them really true. and funny.
If you are really clueless, let me tell you what does PMS really stands for and the exact meaning of it.
PMS also known as Premenstrual syndrome is a combination of emotional, physical, psychological, and mood disturbances that occur about 5 to 11 days before a woman starts her monthly menstrual cycle.
The most common mood-related symptoms are irritability, depression, crying, oversensitivity, and mood swings with alternating sadness and anger.
On the other hand, the most common physical symptoms are fatigue, bloating, breast tenderness (mastalgia), acne, and appetite changes with food cravings.
Well today, I'm here to clarify that all these are true and are not simply made up.
How do I know? Because, firstly, I am a woman. :)
Secondly, I go through that almost every month, in fact, right now and honestly sometimes I puzzle myself at how my emotions run so wild that I find it hard to control. Sometimes, I'm amazed at how at one second I can be really over the cloud and the next second, I am feeling so low and depressed.
For me, I tend to get over-sensitive during this period.
So beware! :P
About 80% of women experience some premenstrual symptoms. The incidence of true PMS has often been overestimated by including all women who experience any physical or emotional symptoms prior to menstruation. (MedicineNet.com 2011)
And this I would have to agree. At times, women tend to take this whole PMS thingy over the top. For every argument, every fight and every wrongdoing, they blame it on the PMS.
That's when the PMS term is wrongly interpreted and misunderstood. People, especially men shudder at the term PMS and would automatically react by saying, "Don't blame it on PMS! What's the difference? You have PMS every day!"
Girls, we ought to learn how to use the word at the right time. Only when you're really having PMS, you have the right to use that as an excuse. Don't cheat! Because guys, seriously, when PMS visits, it's literally a living hell. So help us out here and give us some face lah :)
Guys, try your bestest best to tolerate us during this period, and be nice. When we're over-sensitive, don't be too harsh on us. But if we go overboard, tell us. Let us know, because sometimes we don't see it. And remember to tell us, only when we're in the happy mode. :) You don't want to get into trouble.
I'm not writing this to rattle on my bf. I have the best-est bf who tolerates me every time I have PMS. Yealah, if not, how can this post be valid right? :P He understands every time I become over-sensitive, act all weird and crazy with my mood swings and the non-stop complaints about the horrendous period cramps.
So that's why I'm bold enough to say that, both genders should and can complement each other for a better tomorrow.
Guys, you can tolerate one. And girls, bu yao tai guo fen ah. :)
Cheers!
